Is There Magic in V-Steaming?
I’m sure you’re probably wondering what V-Steaming is, but just use your imagination! V-steaming, vaginal steaming, or Yoni steaming is a treatment used to cleanse and revitalize the uterus, in addition to reducing discomfort associated with those monthly menstrual cramps we all love!
It generally involves a women sitting in a throne-like position, panty-less over a pot of hot water infused with therapeutic herbs like mugwort, and all while covered by a tent-like skirt. While I haven’t yet tried it, I figured this blog posts could help me to weight the pros and cons of adding it to my weekly self care regiment and introduce a new concept to you, my loyal readers!
So here’s the pros: Allegedly, it helps to dilates the blood vessels, increasing blood circulation, providing oxygen, and relaxing the pelvic floor muscles. Using therapeutic herb mugwort, helps to treat stomach and intestinal disorders, including cramps, but it has also been used for menopausal and menstrual complaints, along with infertility. The herb stimulates the production of hormones in order to maintain uterine health, and protects the uterus from ulcers and tumors.
And, now for the cons: Since there is no real way to control the temperature of steam, it is possible you could experience burns to your lady parts, if not careful. It could mess the “good” bacteria in your vagina. One of the awesome things about our v-jay v-jays is that they are self cleaning, and throwing some steam into the mix can be drying to our lady parts and disrupt the growth of the good bacteria we need in there.
While neither of these pros and cons have been legitimized by actual scientific studies, many of Hollywood’s leading ladies are swearing by this treatment from Tia and Tamera Mowry, to Gwyneth Paltrow. If it’s good enough for them, I suppose there’s no harm in trying it once! What do you think?
