This week’s essential oil spotlight is lavender oil and it’s variety of uses. Like other oils, lavender has antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that heal and restore the skin. It’s also a popular product for stress relief, calming and as a sleep aid. Try it!

Topical Use- Lavender oil can help heal minor cuts or burns simply by putting 3-4 drops directly on the affected area. It also soothes insect bites or stings the same way. For skin conditions like mild to moderate eczema, lavender oil mixed with coconut or sesame oil works wonders. In addition, it moisturizes dry and/or sunburned skin and lips. Finally, a drop of lavender on a cold sore speeds up the healing process and rubbing it into your scalp eliminates flakes.

Calming/Sleep Aid- Try putting a drop of lavender oil on your pillow before bed to help you sleep. Putting a drop behind each ear maximizes these effects. A lavender facial steam or bath is perfect to help calm you after a long day and you can experience the skin benefits as well.
